Every hospital has the room. The one where equipment goes when nobody wants to decide about it.
Walk it once a quarter with three labels: works, repairable, retire. You will almost always find a working device someone needs, a repairable one worth an afternoon, and several carcasses quietly donating parts. You'll also find things that should never be used again — and labeling them 'retire' protects patients as surely as any repair.
An afternoon, a clipboard, three labels. It's the cheapest capacity expansion in healthcare.
